Raised in a small town North of Boston, Susan attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and the University of California in San Diego. She majored in Political Science and Business. Always a lover of great food and family gatherings, Susan began working in some of the finest kitchens on the West Coast and later in Boston. She was the Executive Chef for Rebecca's in Boston, the Sous Chef at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, and then went on to be the Chef/Owner of Seasonings in Milton, Massachusetts. After marrying and have a family, Susan's husband passed away suddenly leaving her with her 3 wonderful children and a large commercial refrigeration business to run. Susan took over and ran Supermarket Equipment until she sold it five years later. Looking for a new frontier to make a living and raise her children, Susan relocated to SW Florida.

After graduation, I enjoyed a few years living in Tallahassee where I bought my very first home. The yearning for Pine Island called and so I returned! They launched Authentic Timberframes after building their own 5000 sf timber frame, by hand, from the very trees on their 30 acre piece of land in Maine. "We were young then!" Working side by side scribing beams, cutting timbers and raising frames, they build all custom homes, barns and cottages she has a clear eye for very high quality construction and site location. They have been featured in several national magazines including Yankee, Mother Earth News, DownEast and several local periodicals and newspapers. Avid sailors and sailing instrutors, they found a slice of paradise in Bokeelia, Florida where they sail on Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf.
